Requirements-- Board certified in Gastroenterology
-- Fellowship required
-- Active Texas medical license
-- ACLS
Required Procedures / Skills-- Upper GI endoscopy
--- Upper GI endoscopy with biopsy
--- Upper GI endoscopy with foreign body removal
--- Upper GI endoscopy with fulguration of bleeder (cautery vs. laser)
--- Upper GI endoscopy with injection of varices
-- Diagnostic ERCP
-- Therapeutic ERCP
-- Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG)
-- Esophageal dilatation / manometry
-- Esophageal manometry interpretation
-- Small bowel biopsy
-- Lower GI endoscopy
-- Sigmoidoscopy (flexible and rigid)
-- Colonoscopy
--- Colonoscopy with biopsy
--- Colonoscopy with excision of polyp
-- Liver biopsy
-- Insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube
-- ERCP preferred
Assignment Details-- Practice setting: Inpatient
-- Admissions required
-- Supervision of advanced practice providers not required
-- PEDs Level: 3
-- Facility Trauma Level: 3
-- Will see inpatient consults, ED consults, and transfers
-- Support staff: PA/NPs available Monday–Friday
-- EMR: Athena / Medhost
