Medical Review - Psychiatrist | Kansas | Ongoing Locum Tenens

Seeking a Kansas-licensed Psychiatrist (or qualified MD-level physician) to serve as a rendering/supervising provider for community-based behavioral health organizations serving underserved populations throughout Kansas. This is a fully remote role with a very limited workload, estimated at approximately 5–6 hours per month per organization. Organizations are seeking a long-term partner and are prepared to move quickly when the right fit is identified.

Responsibilities include:
• Reviewing care plans, progress notes, and documentation for medical necessity
• Providing clinical oversight for Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST), Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR), Peer Support, and related behavioral health services
• Serving as the rendering provider when required for Medicaid credentialing and claims submission
• Reviewing complex behavioral health cases as needed
• Supporting quality assurance, compliance, and clinical oversight activities
• Assisting with startup, credentialing, and program development efforts

Additional Details:
• Fully remote opportunity
• Flexible schedule with no required clinic hours
• Approximately 5–6 hours per month to start
• No direct patient care responsibilities
• No medication management
• No prescribing responsibilities
• No call coverage required
• Small patient population, generally fewer than 100 active clients initially
• Ongoing assignment with long-term growth potential as additional programs launch

Requirements:
• Active Kansas physician license in good standing
• Active individual NPI
• Eligible and willing to enroll with Kansas Medicaid/KMAP and KanCare MCOs, including UnitedHealthcare, Sunflower, and Healthy Blue
• Comfortable serving in a collaborating/supervising physician role
• Familiarity with behavioral health services and medical necessity review preferred
• Clean background and exclusion status
• Willingness to complete any required Kansas and KDADS training requirements
