Psychiatrist Locum Tenens to Permanent Job for Night and Weekend Call in Atlanta, Georgia

A well-established behavioral health facility in Atlanta is seeking a psychiatrist for a locums to permanent opportunity.

Center provides crisis intervention and stabilization services for adults across three levels of care:
--Crisis Services Center receives walk-ins, emergency room transfers, and involuntary referrals for psychiatric evaluation.
--Temporary Observation Unit monitors individuals requiring further observation for 12 to 24 hours.
--Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) serves individuals needing longer stabilization or substance withdrawal management, typically 5 to 7 days, with crisis counseling, medication management, and discharge planning support.

Role Overview:
This position blends direct clinical care with medical leadership, carrying responsibility for overseeing medical operations and providing clinical supervision to APRNs and PAs across both the PES and CSU units.

Clinical Responsibilities:
--Active caseload of approximately 6 patients on the CSU
--Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, crisis intervention, medication management, withdrawal management, and general medical care for adults 18+
--Delegated physician of record for APRNs, providing supervision and consultation
--Clinical teaching and mentorship for medical students and psychiatry residents

Leadership Responsibilities:
--Medical supervision of MDs, PAs, and APRNs across units
--Training development to maintain clinical excellence and best practices
--Serves as the bridge between medical staff and executive leadership

Position Details:
--Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:15 AM to 5:00 PM
--Compensation: ~$340,000 annually
--Admin/Clinical split: 50/50
--Patient population: Adults 18+ only
--Credentialing timeline: Approximately 3 weeks
--Locums duration: 2 to 3 months preferred before transitioning to permanent placement

Qualifications:
--Board Certification in Psychiatry preferred
--Active Georgia medical license and DEA registration with prescriptive authority for controlled substances
--Minimum 3 years of post-graduate psychiatric experience, including supervisory or leadership experience
