Inpatient Unit Director – Psychiatry | Brooklyn, New York
An established Medical Center is seeking a Board Certified Psychiatrist to serve as Inpatient Unit Director on a 30-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit at one of Brooklyn’s largest academic medical centers. This leadership role combines clinical oversight, resident supervision, and unit-level administration within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
--Lead and manage an inpatient psychiatric team alongside residents (caseload up to 8 patients per resident)
--Oversee two attending psychiatrists on a 30-bed unit
--Partner closely with the Vice Chair of Acute Care Psychiatry, another Unit Director, and Nursing leadership on unit operations and patient care
--Supervise psychiatry residents and medical students on inpatient rotations
--Participate in academic teaching and optional research initiatives
About the Program
--Two inpatient units totaling 70 beds, staffed by 7 full-time attending psychiatrists
--Each team includes a dedicated social worker and LCAT
--Full-time medical internist manages medical comorbidities

Qualifications
--ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency completion
--Board Certification in Psychiatry
--Prior academic and/or leadership experience preferred
