Permanent Inpatient Attending Psychiatrist Job | Brooklyn, New York
A Medical Center is seeking a Board Certified Psychiatrist to join its adult inpatient psychiatry service at one of Brooklyn’s largest teaching hospitals. This role focuses on direct inpatient care and academic teaching within a well-resourced, multidisciplinary environment.
Role Overview
--Manage and treat acutely ill adult inpatients on one of two inpatient psychiatry units
--Work closely with psychiatry residents (resident caseloads up to 8 patients)
--Supervise residents and medical students rotating on the inpatient service
--Opportunity to participate in or develop academic and research projects
Program Highlights
--Two inpatient psychiatry units totaling 70 beds, staffed by 7 full-time attending psychiatrists
--Dedicated interdisciplinary teams including social workers and LCATs
--Full-time medical internist manages all medical comorbidities
--Strong academic affiliations with SUNY Downstate and NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine
--Faculty appointment available through SUNY Downstate
Compensation & Benefits
--Base salary $272,000 + $10,000 for board certification
--Additional compensation for subspecialty training
--Comprehensive benefits including $3,500 CME/conference fund, 5 CME days, and 20 vacation days
--No overnight call; optional paid evening/weekend shifts available
Qualifications
--Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency
--Board Certification in Psychiatry
--Academic or leadership experience preferred
