Cardiothoracic Surgery Locums Job in Louisiana | 24-hour Call Coverage Starting May 2026 and Ongoing
We’re working with a facility in Louisiana looking for a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide 24-hour call coverage beginning May 2026 and ongoing. The need is mainly weekends, with periodic extended coverage blocks available as well. It’s a streamlined assignment with 100% call coverage and no clinic, supporting a CT Surgery service line at a 290+ bed hospital using Epic EMR.
Specific dates of coverage needed:
* 7AM Friday, April 17 - 7AM Monday, April 20
* 7AM Thursday, May 14 - 7AM Friday, May 22
* 7AM Friday, June 26 - 7AM Monday, June 29
* 7AM Friday, July 17 – 7AM Monday, July 20
* 7AM Friday, July 31 – 7AM Monday, August 3
+ 1-2 weekends per month ongoing in August-December
Coverage Details for Assignment #114276:
-- Board Certification + active, unrestricted Louisiana medical license & DEA required
-- Willing to consider candidates that are actively enrolled with the IMLC
-- Covering CT Surgery Service Line (must be able to do full scope of CT Surgery)
-- 100% 24-hour call coverage only - no clinic/outpatient coverage needs
-- Daily inpatient volume: will see between 10-15 patients/day (to include rounding on attached & unattached patients and covering the ED for new consults, emergent cases, etc.)
-- Weekly surgical case volume: can anticipate doing 7-10 cases / week
-- 7AM - 7AM start & end time
-- Facility cancels clinic when using locums coverage, however, the locums surgeon may need to look at a post op patient’s incision occasionally when covering weekday shifts
-- One NP that assists with weekday patient rounding, etc. (Not OR based) - will be present on Friday's until 5P
-- Hospital details: 290+ bed facility, Level III Trauma Designation, Epic EMR
